Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities & Threats

The strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats analysis is performed once a year at the beginning of our fiscal year, in July. The survey is sent out anonymously, in multiple formats to gain insight on both internal coalition strengths and weakness and external community level opportunities and threats. This information helps guides our priorities and activities for the year. "Nothing for them, without them"

Weaknesses

Deficiency in behavioral health providers
Deficiency in VSOs
Civilian providers in rural areas lack knowledge specific to veterans
Lack of follow through with providers after veteran status is established
Lack of follow through after a mental health crisis
Community readiness/awareness is low
Deficiency in centralized resources specific to veterans
Difficult to learn of activities in other areas
Finding and connecting to veterans in Carroll County
Veterans aren't aware of their eligibility to receive VA care
Transportation anywhere is difficult
Difficult to engage veterans and their families
Children and grandchildren of veterans have needs that organizations may not understand

Opportunities

Resource packet can be produced using and modifying current C3PH resources
Some providers aware of the needs specific to veterans- use them to advocate to others
Other veteran coalitions can be used to help devise a way to communicate all events and activities in an up-to-date manner
Connections to other events happening across NH
Plan or become part of events already occurring in the fall of 2023 and winter of 2024 in Carroll County
Extensive networks available to expand collaboration

Threats

Capacity in the form of money, time, and staff of community members to engage and support is limited
Consistent and timely dissemination of valid information across a large geographic area is difficult
Medical or behavioral providers and other stakeholders awareness and understanding of the specific veteran needs or resources is low
Stereotypes of what a veteran is hinders support and care
Stigma surrounding help-seeking behaviors
Discrimination of minority veteran groups
General awareness on veteran and military needs in all sectors
